About the Trip

Our 6-week Level 2 Snowboard instructor courses start in December and February and are structured to give you the skills to pass level 2 with confidence. You will begin the course by refreshing your skills and joining a group who have just completed their CASI level 1. CASI Pro Instructors have designed this programme to work across all terrain and conditions to improve riding and teaching ability and meet level 2 standards.

Additional weeks can be arranged if you want to arrive earlier to brush up on your riding. Please note you need to have already passed either the CASI Level 1 instructor certification or another ISIA recognised Level 1 qualification to join this course.

The sports school at Sun Peaks is a centre for instructor training, making it the ideal resort to complete a level 2 snowboard instructor course. With a vast riding area and experienced pro instructors, you can make the most of your training, and by week 6, you are teaching skills and riding techniques will be on-point across areas of the mountain, including powder and bumps.

Additional training opportunities are available at the beginning and end of the course (depending on the start date). These include Adaptive Sports, Avalanche Training, Race Coaching and Park Instructor Course.

Got some extra time on your hands? The level 2 snowboarding instructor course departing in December can be extended to a level 2 & 3 training programme. You’ll join the level 2 group in January and, upon passing level 2, will continue training with top CASI level 4 instructors towards Level 3 standard.

If you already have a Level 1 qualification in snowboard instructing, whether this is a British, Australian, American, Irish or other national certification, then the CASI will recognise its equivalency, and you can enrol for this course.

Resort

The resort of Sunpeaks is nestled in the valley between 3 mountains, spanning 4200 acres of incredible terrain,

Take the lift to the Top of the World. Breathe in the expansive vistas as the snow ghosts bow to the Bluebird mornings. Catch one of the 13 lifts, get immersed in one of the 137 runs, and disappear into 16 gladed areas.

Finding some of the best-untouched powder amongst tree-lined runs to the 10-acre terrain pack is a treat for anyone wanting to get the most out of this fulfilling venue.

Offering some of the best conditions that BC offers and is officially the sunniest resort in BC. With few lift queues, it’s no surprise that people flock worldwide to see what the fuss is about. Maybe that’s why the Interski trials are held here?

Back it up with enough hotels, shops, bars, restaurants, cafes and amenities to make it the 2nd most extensive resort in Canada, and you’ve got a world-class venue to keep the most discerning characters grinning from ear to ear. Prepare to be astounded.

Hearthstone Lodge

Located in the heart of Sun Peaks Resort, the Hearthstone Lodge is the perfect base for a snowboard instructor course. Forgot your goggles or want to head back for Lunch? The Hearthstone is ski-in/ski-out and only a short walk from all the shops, restaurants and ski lifts. Based on the alpine style with spacious rooms, it has everything you need to make it a home-from-home.

The studios and 1-bedrooms suites are well set up for both a short or long stay. All feature a kitchenette, gas fireplace, dining area and free wireless internet. The dining room table seats 4 people, and there’s a flat-screen TV and comfy sofa for relaxing on when the room is set up for single or double occupancy. Rooms are set out in blocks, so you’ll be next to all your fellow instructor mates.

Guest amenities include a fitness room, outdoor hot tubs, ski storage and a laundry area.

Breakfast and Dinner

If it’s one thing, we want you to do. It’s to stay fuelled up.

4 breakfasts and dinners per week are included with your course, meaning you’ve got time to relax and concentrate on what’s important. But the best bit. We don’t use just one restaurant; we use 5. With pretty much the pick of the menu, it gives you enough variety every week to not get bored and ensures you’re getting what you need.

Special nights are arranged during the course when everyone can get together for something a little different. Mexican Margherita night anyone?

As great as it is being catered for, there’s plenty of time to cook for yourself back in your studio. We get it. Sometimes it’s nice just to relax, order a pizza, make a big bowl of pasta, and catch up on Netflix. Regardless of your culinary skills, there are plenty more places to eat in Sunpeaks village. Whether you’re a vegetarian*, meat fiend, spice lover, or want something simple, there’s something for everyone.

*Please say if you have dietary requirements as we can advise what is possible, or even suggest self-catering if that works better for you. We’ll also give you plenty of advice on how much to budget for all your extra costs, plus that odd cheeky beer!

My Experience with The Winter Sports….

My experience with The Winter Sports company was friendly, smooth and comfortable throughout! I booked with WSC as their personal approach really made me feel valued and I knew my needs would be looked after. I took part in the 11 Ski Instructor Level 2 Course in Sunpeaks, BC, Canada. The resort was lovely, accommodation was great, skiing area was amazing, great restaurants and amazing people! I achieved my Level 2 thanks to the support of the instructors and peers around me on the course. If I ever look to train for my Level 3 CSIA qualification, WSC will be the first people I contact! I would recommend WSC to anyone looking to become an instructor, or just looking to have a great time over a the winter season!

"I generally don’t do reviews - either way - but I have to. This company deserves all the praise they’ve received. the fantastic range of courses available, is a winning recipe. If you are thinking of a ski season or similar, you won’t do better imo. And if you’re a parent, my advice is don’t even look elsewhere. No one will care for your child more than Rik/Emma/Wintersports."
